Plugin Boutique is one of the industries biggest distributor of computer music software. The sister company Loopmasters has one of the largest sample library collection available online. Plugin Boutique if you don’t already know run a series of deal every month. Some are amazing, some are ok and some are free. What you do need to know is all the little tips and tricks I’ve found over the years on Plugin Boutique that will help you save money and get the best deals.
Deals. Every month you will notice a variety of deals available on the deals page here. These are worth checking every now and then as some appear only for a few days. Some deals are incredibly good. For instance often they will have a 99% off deal where you are getting a plugin for as little as £1. I purchase a lot of Air Music’s VST instruments for £1 as well as a lot of Sonnivox’s sample based instruments.
Lite Versions / Upgrades. Every now and then a lite version of a plugin will be on sale. You may be thinking what do I want with a cut down version of the complete plugin I want. If you buy or gain a lite version license of the plugin for free or cheap, you can then upgrade it to the complete version either straight away or at a later date. For instance in the past various Izotope Elements products have been given away free with any purchase. While for me these elements products are pointless and will never get used. I can now upgrade them to the full version for less than half the price of the complete price of the product.
Trial Versions. Trial versions are a great way to test the product before buying it but if at the end of your trial period you haven’t checked out and bought the product you trialled. Plugin Boutique will email you a 10% off discount code to entice you to checkout.
Rewards / Tokens. Every time you spend £50 you will receive a token. When you collect tokens you can use these to unlock special discount deals or download free products that would be sold on Plugin Boutique’s sister company Loopmasters here. These are worth keeping an eye on because the sample packs are often decent and the discounted products you won’t find as good a deal on the deals page. I would advice saving your tokens rather than trading them in for virtual cash.
Virtual Cash. Virtual cash is earned by buying something on Plugin Boutique. This is why I always shop at Plugin Boutique because every £1 you spend 5% of that goes into your virtual cash. So spend £100 you will receive £5 virtual cash which can be used to discount your next purchase.
