Today we visited KMR Audio to collect our custom built Buzz Audio REQ 2.2 MEA EQ. Built in New Zealand by Tim Farrant to exceptional quality the Buzz Audio REQ 2.2 is not just one of the worlds best EQ’s it is also a statement. A statement to our clients that we are constantly investing in your sound and want to have the best equipment the industry has to offer.
We decided on a custom build for a few reason. The main reason being is we wanted the gain cut / boost range to be 5db with 0.25db stepped increments. The reason for this is we can cut and boost with far more detail. It may not sound like a lot but 0.25db in mastering is huge and to be able to adjusts by such small increments is a godsend.
Additionally we wanted to upgrade all parts. When you are spending £7000 on an EQ you don’t mind adding an extra £500 on upgraded parts if they are going to make a good difference. Below are a list of additional upgrades we added to our custom unit.
We for a black faceplate but to our surprise we received both. Which was really great of Buzz Audio as now we can pick and choose based on how we feel. I can’t see us changing the faceplate to silver as the black one looks amazing. What do you think, see the image below.
A huge factor in choosing to go the Buzz Audio REQ 2.2 was the saturation section. When engaged in the chain audio is passed through the steel transformer which add colour to the EQ. There are 6 different flavours to choose from. When engaged, the Saturation section adds a touch of vintage magic.
