Multiple facebook tags
Don’t tag 99 people on your friends list about your new track. Chances are they’ll click unfollow or even unfriend. It’s annoying and you’ll not gain any new fans through doing so.
Rants about your personal life
Stay professional. Keep your personal life personal. Your fans do not want to hear about how your girlfriend is not returning your calls or how so and so has got beef with you.
Promote yourself in a good way
By all means post and tag people involved in the project in your post to increase engagement but don’t do it 50 times a day over and over again. Facebook works in a way that your posts if the user likes them and chooses to engage with you, will see them no matter what time of day you post it.
Copy paste inbox messages
Pasting the same message to everyone online something along the lines of… Hey wassup my new tunes out like comment share. 99 times out of 100 this will do none of the above and the message recipient will choose to disengage with you.
Posting on other producers walls
Posting a copy pasted message on other producers walls is kind of like going round their house and spray painting your Soundcloud url on their garden wall. If you did this they would wash it off ( delete post ), call the police ( report as spam ), get a restraining order ( block ).
Inboxing the minute they have accepted your friend request
Don’t inbox someone a message saying thanks for the add like my facebook page and soundcloud here. Start a conversation say hi, don’t try and gain a like or follow, try and gain a friend within the music industry. If your goal by adding someone is to get them to like your facebook page or soundcloud page. Posting something interesting that they will see and think hmm I like what this guy is all about I’ll follow his updates, is far more beneficial.
Watch what you share
Sharing other people videos or images about touchy subjects may not be the best idea. Your fans don’t want to see you share rude or incorporate posts. Some may like it others may not. You probably won’t gain a fan from sharing these posts but you’ll certainly lose a fan.
Arguments
Don’t argue with others online. No fan wants to see you arguing publicly. It never paints you in a good light. Have an intelligent debate but don’t argue.
Grammar
Use the correct grammar. Your fans may be of all ages and backgrounds. Don’t write posts like you are sending a text on your Nokia 5110. Gt new tunez out hmu 4 DL linkz n dat.
