In this video I discuss a question I am asked almost every time I post a video or picture of the studio. Where do you get the blacking plates you use to separate your equipment and why do you use them instead of a standard 1u blanking plate. There are a number of reasons why I use 1/3u blacking plates instead of 1u blanking plates.
- Saves Space – Using 1/3u instead of 1u saves 2u across an entire rack. 1/3u is plenty of space to leave for a unit to vent and provide adequate airflow.
- The Look – 1/3u looks a lot smarter and cleaner when compared to have 1u space between each unit.
- Cost Effective – 1/3u are slightly cheaper than 1u due to not using as much material.
We recommend buying direct from the All Metal Parts website as this half the price of ordering through Amazon due to not having to pay fees. We have purchased all our blanking plates through All Metal Parts without ever any issues, timely deliveries and great customer service.
